My Thoughts:

Milk and Honey: A book I didn’t even know I needed until I started it. My little sister recommended it to me and it had the same impact on her as it did me. I’m not big on poems, but these were written so beautifully that I enjoyed every single poem. Rupi Kaur also has inspiring videos, poetry readings, and TED talks. If you’re ever looking for inspiration, especially as a woman, especially when you feel alone, read this book and look up anything Rupi Kaur.

It’s amazing how we all feel so alone. How we feel as if our problems are foreign to the world, like nobody understands, like no one else has suffered pain. But as I read Rupi Kaur’s poems, I realized we all feel pain. We all feel hurt. We all feel love. Her poems were so beautifully relatable. Although her situation is different from mine, I still felt like she understood everything I was going through. This book of poems goes to show that we aren’t alone in our pain. We can make it through together and we can make it through alone. Because we are strong. Let this book of poems fill you up with strength and inspiration. Let these poems embrace you and remind you that you aren’t the only one living in a world of pain. Get lost in these poems and let them build you, comfort you, and caress you.

“I know it’s hard

believe me

i know it feels like

tomorrow will never come

and today will be the most

difficult day to get through

but i swear you will get through

the hurt will pass

as it always does

if you give it time and

let it so let it

go

slowly

like a broken promise

let it go

I recommend this book to…

…anyone who feels alone or in a dark place. This book really helped me in my time of need and I know it will help you. Boys, girls, teenagers, adults, etc.

Comfort Guide:

This entire book of poems is full of mature content. There are no “F” words. There are a few mild curse words. A lot of talk of sex. It’s not vulgar, but there are some explicit descriptions.
